When I'm vacationing and taking photos of the places I've experienced, sometimes I get back home and wish I'd photographed more. When you are traveling, especially in this digital age, take LOTS of pictures, from all angles, watch the lighting, look at the people, study your surroundings, and when you get back home from your travels, you'll discover you'll have a better experience reliving your vacation through your photos. These photos will make a great scrapbook to share with your family and friends!

ReplyDeleteOne of the most exasperating travel situations I had was when I was on American Airlines and we had started boarding to head out from DFW to Maine. A group about of 15 or more people from India or thereabouts began boarding and carrying on boxes. Since most of the luggage bins overhead were pretty much full, the guys started asking people up and down the aisle if they could put the boxes under their feet. One man right in front of me opened the bin where the emergency stuff was stored and he was going to remove the items and put his box in that place - I was mad by then and looked at him and shook my head no and waved my hands saying "no" louder each time. The flight attendants were busy up and down the aisle trying to help many of the others find places for their boxes so they didn't see this particular man. He backed down and replaced the emergency items and walked on toward the back of the plane. Just as he passed by me, two young fellows of the same nationality sat by me, I was in aisle seat, the others sat in middle, and window. Each one proceeded to pull his hat down over his eyes and go to sleep - the guy in the middle seat just put his head over on my shoulder - I tried several times to tell him - don't touch me - but it didn't sink in. After awhile, I gave up and laid my head down on top of his and went to sleep with them. I've never had this happen before and hope that it never does again. Their presence on the plane was overwhelming and I felt helpless in the event that a problem would have arose - and I know that had it gone bad - I was willing to take charge and do what I could to protect myself and others there with me!

ReplyDeleteI love exploring new places, especially with friends. Recently I was on a family vacation to Williamsburg, VA, and we also had a day trip to Washington D.C. We all enjoyed the history lessons, ghost walk, and even participated in a "trial" based on a true story about an Army Commander deserting his base, on the coast, during the invasion from the British. It was interesting. It was hot, but we tried to stay cool while touring the dozens of structures that are air conditioned, even though they are historical landmarks. There are more than 500 buildings in Williamsburg that are original.
